Since moving to Orderville I feel like we have started to finally live bits and pieces of the life that we have dreamed of for ourselves and for our family for years. Part of the appeal is being close to family and part of it is living a lifestyle that includes animals and gardens.
We got a few more chicks this year which will put us up to 8 laying hens this fall. I might get a few more but haven't yet. Either way we are well on our way to not buying store eggs again! I miss those days.
In an attempt to make the chicks like us we handle them a lot and feed them treats while they are out. It's working moderately well.
We have also reclaimed a huge plot of pasture at the shanty for our garden! The kids like to go over and make mud pies of hide in the sweet peas and I like to go plant and pull feeds. The ground is pretty rough but we'll see what it produces this first year out.
Baby, who is going to have to be renamed soon, turned two at the end of May. The day before his Birthday he was a little under the weather and well asleep in his daddy's arms. We just looked at him and felt like those adorable falling asleep in our arms moments were numbered. He's getting so big! We just enjoyed that little minute together before we plopped him in his bed.
And then the big day came! We started the morning off right with candles in his pancakes.

And then that evening we had dinner and cake and ice cream at Grandma's
It's so much fun having family close by to celebrate with us! And we get to go on all the cool family outings too. On this occasion we went up to "the Pinks" to have a cookout. The view is amazing! And the food and company couldn't be beat.

Whilst moving things here and there in order for my sister and now brother to live with us the Halloween costumes resurfaced and were used for days until I hid them again. Baby boyfriend rockin' the caterpillar suit while pushing a stroller. He's such a nut!

The hens are still here and the kids still love them!
Homemade popsicles are a summer must.
We had FHE in Kanab the other day and Lucy treated us all to Pizza Hut pizza at the park/splash pad. It was so much fun and that pizza tasted so very good! We didn't eat out much before we moved but not we eat out almost none, so it was a huge treat and I loved it!

Just because... cousin Richard. I think he's adorable. I tease Thomas that I liked Richard before him. He worked at the ranch that I worked at the summer I met Thomas and so I knew him and his family before I even met Thomas. They are great!
And we got LAMBS!! I bought two - a boy and a girl and we hope to use them as lawn mowers at the shanty. They sure don't eat as much as we thought they would but they still have all summer to munch. they are the cutest animals ever.
There you have it! Livin' the dream in the middle of no where. We are happy as clams, loving life, and only missing a few things about city dwelling (like the craft store and Taco Bell).
