This and That

So things in life are good.  Both babies are in really fun stages... Macey is throwing less fits, still taking naps daily, and good at entertaining herself.  Henry is happy and mobile, and as long as he is fed he is happy.  I'm not nursing and feel a lot of freedom with that.  We are in a good place... an easier stage than some for sure!
Here is Macey telling me all about how she is going to the beach for "baycation".
While I was making lunch on Saturday she sat herself down and blew bubbles...

Henry LOVED being pulled around the yard in the Cozy Coupe.   Don't you love his teeth?  I call him my little Hippo.  Henny Hippo, he may need therapy when he's older!
No complaints here.

Time Sucker

Well, I haven't been blogging quiet like I was and I'm finally ready to share why....
Over a month ago a friend let me borrow this cookbook-  little did I know what can of worms had just been opened!  The beginning of the book are chapters about vitamins, minerals, fats, carbs ect... I've always loved food, cooking, and nutrition, so I read it.  LIFE CHANGING!  This book is bases on the findings of a Dr. Price, who in the 1930's traveled the world studying the indigenous groups of the world and what they ate and why there were healthy people...
After reading I am 100% sold on the concepts.  The ideas are a "back to nature" approach.  Wholes grains, fruits and veggies, full fat raw milk, rich broths, and cultured dairy produces.
I've totally changed how I cook and for any one who knows me, that is a huge deal.
Out with the sugar and in with the honey!
Out with the skim denatured milk and in with the raw cream on the top kind!
Out with commercial bread with a million ingredients and in with the sourdough with 3 ingredients!
Out with canola oil and in with coconut, olive oil, and butter!
Out with the white table salt and in the with gray Celtic sea salt!

If you can't tell, I am PUMPED!  It's like a light has been turned on.
Here's my book.  After one night of reading I bought it ASAP.
My goal now is to eat well and as close to nature as I can.  If I don't know what's in it or how it's made, we don't eat it.
Processing plays a huge role in the end product that you are eating... what makes white flour white? table salt so white? and sugar so white?  It just aint natural people, and if you read about the process you wouldn't be able to feed it to your kids either... so if you don't want to make changes, avoid this book and the knowledge inside :)
My sourdough started that I call my babies and feed every night :)

Plums fresh off the tree never tasted better!  Giving up processed sugar has literally transformed my taste buds.  Everything tastes better!
I'll be honest... I'm an all or nothing kind of woman most of the time, and this is no different!  But we aren't turning into to weirdos!  I plan on eating at ward things, family things, at holidays, and the likes... I won't be packing "special" food just for us.  The point is we eat so much junk every where, why have it at home too?
We still eat pizza even... just with soaked whole wheat crust, fancy fresh sauce (with beet greens hidden in it:) ) and with no nitrate pepperoni.
Food is an emotional thing for most of us... and Thomas is no different.  So he made me a list of 5 things we aren't going to change... whitey white flour hasn't totally left the house!
Here is his list of things he doesn't want whole wheatalized:
biscuits
pie crust
pizza dough
tortillas
and yet to be decided....
See, I'm totally fair.  But white sugar is out people.  Out!
Here's to eating a little less processed and a little more down to earthy.
Read your bread bag, you'll be shocked!

Business Trippin'

Thomas became a legit "business man" this week... his first week long business trip to the Sunshine state!  Macey was pretty upset when he told her that he was going to be gone for a few days...

Henry on the other hand just continued eating - that's my boy.
To fill the void in our hearts we headed up to Idaho to visit my sister and her babies!  It was our best trip yet! The kids played so well together and we had a blast!
The little sis Sarah came up too!  We even snuck out after that babies were asleep and have a 9pm dinner with just the girls... so much fun!
Henry learned how to play peek-a-boo with his bib...
After we came from ID we met up with some friends at Thanksgiving Point Children's Gardens.  Wow.  It was the first day of school for Utah county so we were one of maybe 5 people there!  It was awesome!
I plan on having one of these giant Noah's Ark water features in my back yard...
Friends from BYU days...
Thomas was supposed to be home tonight but is now spending the night Atlanta and we should see him some time tomorrow... blasted weather!  I think I can only do one more night alone!  I am not sleeping so well and have had about 10 hours of sleep the last 2 nights total and probably won't add much to it tonight.
Hurry hone lovey we miss you!

Reunion

I've been slacking on my blogging - a post on why in the making... - but we have been doing fun stuff!  We went to an extended family reunion at Fish Lake.  It was almost 10,000 feet in elevation where we camped and we froze all night!  The days were so pretty and a lot of fun though!

When it's all said and done

Well if you can't tell we loved our trip, but definitely felt like we needed a vacation from vacation when we were done!  Thanks grandpa for letting us stay with you and use your car... it was a huge help.
After waiting a few extra hours in the airport we all passed out on the plane and got home at 2am Indiana time!
My one regret... I didn't get good pictures of my kids with my parents and grandparents!  What was I thinking?  I took pictures of everything except for what mattered most.  I guess we'll have to go back sooner than later to get some more pictures.

Grandma's

Grandmas are the best!  They let you sit on the counter and eat whatever you want.
They have the best dress up clothes!

And they put babies to bed so the big kids can go play tennis in the evening!
They also make good ice cream, are good at reading books, and are married to cute grandpas.
We sure like grandmas.

Chi-town

After 3 days in Kentucky and 3 more in Indiana we decided to head up to the Chicago area to visit our besties from BYU, Chace, Rivka, and newest family member Matilda (fondly known as Tilly).  It was so very good to see them.  They are amazing people and we clicked from day one.  We miss them something fierce.  Since they left BYU Chace has gotten a fancy job with Dow, they bought a house, and Tilly was born!  We had a lot to talk about.
We made the trip into down town and they showed us the ropes of city dwellers.  I am in LOVE with Chicago.  It was beautiful, clean, and so very friendly.  Macey made friends with lots of people every time we got on the bus.
Our first stop was the Museum of Science and Industry.  We were there for over 4 hours and I didn't even walk by everything!  It was huge and amazing.
All Aboard the Macey train!  Look Thomas really is an Engineer!
It's hard to see but there is a real tornado, lightening, and a million other cool storm things being created and demonstrated behind Thomas.
Entering an exhibit about cool inventions that people are currently working on light clothes with weird wiring so that you can text your friend a hug and they will feel it!
Macey stopping Henry from getting ran over by the train...
The German U-Boat the we captured in WWII.  It has an amazing story and I didn't even know it existed!  It's the only "enemy" boat we have on our soil.
We then took a bus to take a water taxi.  The water taxi was just a boat taxi, but it gave us such a cool peak at the city.

Navy Peir

This is a giant water fountain with an illuminated face on it and the face sometimes spits lots of water.  It was very odd and very cool.
The bean.  I don't even know what this was called, but it was very cool!
Macey and the Bean.
Chicago Style Pizza. Oh wow.

Macey liked it so much, she licked her plate clean.  (Her parents need to teach her manners!)

See how much we loved Chicago!

It was hard to leave the Wilcoxson, and I realized we didn't even take a picture together!  Boo!
